According to a representative for the Pierce County sheriff’s office in Washington state, former NBA player Shawn Kemp, who played 14 seasons in the league between 1989 and 2003 and was a six-time NBA All-player, has been detained and booked for his part in a drive-by shooting incident.
Kemp, 53, was taken into custody and lodged in the Pierce County jail despite the fact that specifics of the claimed incident are still unknown.
The incident and Kemp’s detention have not yet been addressed by anyone in his group or family.
Kemp, who entered the NBA straight out of high school, was a well-known power forward. He assisted the Seattle SuperSonics in making it to the NBA Finals in 1996, where they fell to the Chicago Bulls.
Before leaving the league in 2003, Kemp also had stints with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trail Blazers, and Orlando Magic.
